Portrait of Emperor Qianlong:Starting from 1750,Emperpr Qianlong,taking advantage of nation’s prosperity,its profound cultural heritage,and his own happy talent of scenery drawing,started the 15-year effort,in the name of conserving water and celebrating his mother’s birthday ,to build Qingyi Yuan,the Garden of Clear Ripples.This is the culmination of Chinese ancient garden art.During his lifetime, Emperor Qianlong visited the garden 132 times and wrote some 1,500 poems and verses to eulogize the beauty of the Garden of Clear Ripples. |
